Concept

The monograph presents the work of Herzog & De Meuron between 1997 and 2001. Selected projects are displayed in three different forms: archive-data, plans and photographs. 

In the archive- or project-chapters sketches and different design-stages of buildings are presented, embedded in a personal and a scientific text. The chapter “plans” shows large-sized black-and-white plans of each project. The last chapter, photography, presents all buildings in their urban context. This clear structure enables the reader to find a very specific content. All chapters are, according to the content, especially visual designed. In doing so, the book offers three different approaches to the spectacular projects of Herzog & De Meuron.
