Concept
The book Rethinking Housing is a collection of five magazines and the interstitial spaces they create. Together they allow us to experience housing in a new way.
The architecture of Duplex appears as one that prioritizes people and their social needs.
In a similarly multifaceted manner, each magazine in this book features different and distinct aspects of living spaces, for example the portraits of those who spend what are their perhaps most formative years of their studies in student housing (Habitat). Or the interweaving of urban and living spaces, which are made visible by bay windows and loggias, where a home’s inhabitants become part of the public performance of the street—or is it rather that the passersby are rendered for a brief moment their guests? (WALO) At a time when our living spaces are changing, these illustrations show the rich diversity of generations whose daily needs are being shaken up; the boundaries between private and collective spaces become fluid (More than Housing).
