5th Berlin Biennial

Corporate Typeface

General informations

Concept

The concept of the 5th Berlin Biennial corporate typeface was to design a typeface that connects objects and places of Berlin directly to the letters, creating a collective memory of the city.

The objects we used are from the archive of the German “Werkbund – Museum der Dinge”, Berlin, a museum founded in 1906 that collects plenty of produced as well as unproduced objects. The places we used are photographs of famous and unfamous places that we took during a trip through the city. By mixing images of the city and objects of this archive, we generated a font that isn’t just postscript data, but a time document related to the citizens.
